old recycled wax, foam, wool, harestail 55x50x50cm

Drawing inspiration from Haruki Murakami’s metaphor "Sometimes I feel that a person's heart is like a deep well. Nobody knows what's at the bottom. All you can do is imagine by the things that float to the surface from time to time", the sculpture, crafted from several cast wax bricks, metamorphoses into a symbolic well, positioned within space. At its core a well symbolizes a place of encounter and sharing, offering solace and refreshment to those who seek it. It is a sanctuary for quenching one's thirst and extending a warm greeting to a visitor. Within the sculptures depths rests a felt cushion, from which plants emerge. These plants (harestail) collected by the artist in France, thrives in moist soil- signifies fertility and growth. As well does the wax, which can take on a wide variety of forms as a liquid material. It holds deep meaning in its sensuality and transience; when it hardened it can be everlasting.
