Untitled, 2021-2023 styrofoam, concrete, fiberglass, bees wax, mirror 145x35x70cm
Untitled is a concrete sculpture, encompassing the height of a human body, delicately leaning against a wall. It explores the concept of equilibrium through the presence of two mirrors firmly embedded within the concrete, appearing to be embraced by the surrounding material. This work engages with the theme of spatiality by juxtaposing the tangible, physical space that envelops the sculpture with the intangible, imagined space that resides in our minds. Through the mirrors facing, and therefore mirroring each other, just in the right position, the sculpture creates an illusion of an endless room, where the viewer's reflections extend into a nonexistent realm, evoking feelings of yearning and projection. It invites you to reflect upon the boundary that separates reality from illusion, encouraging a contemplation of how we approach, perceive, and interact with the spaces that encompass us, both in the physical world and within our minds.
